We’re Access Dorset – an organisation run by and for disabled people, older people and carers. From our community hub, called The Bridge, we have created a therapeutic environment where disabled and older people can access activities and support that improve mental and physical health, reduce loneliness, build friendships, and develop independent living skills. Our key services are:

  • Our Activity Program
  • Our Information, Advice and Advocacy Service
  • Our Warm Space

Some of us have previously missed out on opportunities for personal development. At The Bridge, there is another chance! We are a community that grows and learns together – somewhere where we’re each of equal worth and where each person is highly valued. Some of the people who come to The Bridge start off by feeling a bit anxious – this is a new place – we get it. But soon we hope you’ll feel part of our lovely community and your confidence and skills will grow.

“When I first came here a few months ago I could barely walk through the door, I was so anxious. You and everyone here have made me feel so welcome, it’s a little family here, a lovely community”

Coming to The Bridge is easy – you can phone us or email us and we’ll arrange for you to have a chat with a member of the team. If you would like a friend or carer to come when you first visit, then that’s fine too.

A big thank you to our Funders and Supporters
