In the meantime please scroll down to view our key projects. Access Dorset is a user led organisation and registered charity, run by disabled people, older people and carers. We work to remove barriers to inclusion.

Our activities are geared to supporting people to identify and overcome barriers to independence and social inclusion. We encourage self-help strategies and nurture peer support approaches to enable, empower and build self-resilience. We want to bridge the gap that young disabled people experience in transition to adulthood, between unemployment and employment and between ill-health and self-management of health conditions. Free Information, Advice and Guidance Service

Provided by staff and volunteers with lived experience of the barriers faced by disabled and older people.

The Bridge

The home of Access Dorset and our community resource. We provide a home for DOTS Disability, Double Act Disability Theatre, Bournemouth Older People Forum, Bournemouth Parent Carer Group and Addaction. Available for event/party hire.

Help Through Crisis Advocacy Project

A five year Big Lottery Funded project providing advocacy and case work support to disabled people facing extreme financial/housing hardship.

Horizons

Our exciting new project focused on supporting young disabled people (16-25) with social, emotional and communication support needs to move closer to work or voluntary work. We meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Community Safety Service

Access Dorset is a Third Part Hate Crime Reporting Centre and as an outcome of a Community Safety project previously funded by Lloyds Bank Foundation we have created a very useful Community Safety Toolkit.
