We have strength and depth of knowledge, experience and understanding of the issues that comes from being a member led organisation. All of our services put disadvantaged disabled people, older people and carers at the heart of what we do. We make positive change happen and support people to lead fulfilled and inclusive lives.

Happy New Year Everyone – we returned to action on 2nd January 2019 and are looking forward to a VERY exciting year!
As ever, our activities are geared to supporting people to identify and overcome barriers to independence and social inclusion. We encourage self-help strategies and nurture peer support approaches to enable, empower and build self-resilience. We want to bridge the gap that young disabled people experience in transition to adulthood, between unemployment and employment and between ill-health and self-management of health conditions. Provided by staff and volunteers with lived experience of the barriers faced by disabled and older people.

The Bridge

The home of Access Dorset and our community resource. We provide a home for DOTS Disability, Double Act Disability Theatre, Bournemouth Older People Forum, Bournemouth Parent Carer Group and Addaction. Available for event/party hire.

A five year Big Lottery Funded project providing advocacy and case work support to disabled people facing extreme financial/housing hardship.

Horizons Cafe

Horizons Cafe

Welcome to the Horizons Cafe! Open every Wednesday from 12.00 – 2.00 serving amazing, healthy, and great value food. The cafe is a vocational training project for disabled folk. The cafe is open to all and is friendly to all, including people living with dementia.

Sensory Garden

Sensory Garden

Why not visit our stunning sensory garden, relax and unwind! Open daily between 9.00 and 5.00. No appointment needed and unless it’s a Wednesday (when the Horizons Cafe is open!) you’re welcome to bring your own sandwiches. Walk and Talk

Walk and Talk

Join us for Walk and Talk! A gentle and accessible walk, fresh air and the sounds of nature can all inspire and lead to a sense of well-being. Our walks are held every other week and are open to people with any ability. After Walk and Talk, if you like, you can stay for Coffee and Cake back at The Bridge. Community Safety Service

Access Dorset is a Third Part Hate Crime Reporting Centre and as an outcome of a Community Safety project previously funded by Lloyds Bank Foundation we have created a very useful Community Safety Toolkit.
