We have plenty of opportunities for people to get out, try something new and meet others here at Access Dorset:

Build Grow Cook – vocational group for all ages where members have the chance to gain skills and experience while developing in confidence and building resilience.

Build is particularly for those interested in developing DIY and basic building skills. We’ve recently become an official Men’s Shed (women are very welcome too) and we’re working hard to establish our brand new social enterprise. Our Build Social Enterprise involves designing, building and promoting woodwork projects (such as bug hotels or bird houses) and aims to support disabled people to learn building, DIY and lifeskills. We sell our projects in order to further fund the project.

Our wonderfully green thumbed Grow group helps maintain our beautiful sensory garden.

The Cook group is for those wanting to improve or develop their cooking skills – often they’ll prepare food for our vegetarian café!

We have our socially distanced walking group in beautiful Littledown Park every other Wednesday. All abilities welcome, get in contact for the next date. Afterwards the group will enjoy a cup of tea over a board game together.

Our 50+ group meets every Tuesday afternoon – they’ll have lunch together at our Horizons Cafe from 12:30pm and do an activity after. There’s something different each week depending on what the members want but activities have ranged from walking and yoga to cake decorating and arts and crafts. We have regular guest speakers too!

Our Performing Arts group meet each Monday morning and have wowed audiences with some great performances. A recent highlight was their production of Beauty and the Beast, starring Elvis of course!

Art with Sharon – aims to inspire members to discover their creative potential and build self-confidence through art while giving the opportunity to make friends and socialise with others. Cost is £8.

We have regular social activities including outings to local venues and a monthly evening social – past events have included discos, open mic nights, pub quiz and a DJ.
